I went to a bal (Haitian for concert/party) to see T- Micky perform. He is the president of Haiti’s (Michel Martelly) son. He is a relatively new artist, and this is the first time that I have seen him perform. I love his freshman cd Pou’n Ale, but I wasn’t wowed by his performance. He performed songs from older Kompa (popular genre of Haitian music) bands and some of his father’s songs and only sang about two from his debut cd. I think as a new musician who has HUGE shows to fill (his father, the current president was a popular and successful singer and performer); he should have stuck to his own material rather than try to emulate his father’s generation. I think it is extremely important to make a name for your self, even if you are in your famous parent’s shadow. Ok, enough with my music critiques. Enjoy the pics!
