It’s A Mystery

Hello beautiful people! How goes it? Today was such a beautiful day. Hope you’re enjoying the weather on your side of the world as much as I am.

Loving this outfit. It was such an unexpected nice mix. Pattren mixing can be loads of fun.

I don’t know what’s up with the deer in headlights look lol.

Living my life like it’s golden!

Loving the houndstooth print

What was the last outfit you put together, that turned into a nice unexpected surprise?

Blouse: Charlotte Russe; Skirt: H&M; Shoes: Thrifted

Always dressed up

Hope you guys and gals are all well. Not too many words today. I am really loving the sequins trend right now. Although I don’t have much sequins in my closet, sequins just seem to be something that liven up any outfit. This is what I wore to work today.

Looks as if I’m wishing on a star

Who knew this Mr. T-esque gold chain would become such a staple!

The little girl in me loves everything sequined!

We don’t have a dress code at work, so I am almost always “overdressed”. However, I don’t consider myself overdressed or dressed up. I like to look nice and I don’t think I should save my clothes for some special event; especially since I spend 5 days a week and 8hrs a day at my weekday job.

Love, love these wedges. So chic & cute. Love the various textures.

Are you ever made to feel as if you’re always overdressed, or are your friends, coworkers and family into fashion and style too?

Blooper: When checking yourself out goes wrong lol.

Mary Who? Mary Kay

Hello all,

My coworker, a Mary Kay consultant asked me to host a Mary Kay party. I am not very familiar with Mary Kay products outside of a couple of body and hand lotions. I figured this would be a great opportunity to get some of my girls together to get pampered, gab about men and nibble on fruit and cheese while drinking wine.

It was a fun time indeed. The wine, fruit and cheese spread was delicious. The ladies had a great time getting to know each other and we had some very vibrant conversations about our dating lives. Enjoy!

Pre makeover, look how sad I am without Mary Kay in my life.

Wow, my life has improved drastically! Thanks Mary Kay! Lol.

Mmm, wine! It does a body good.

Honeydew melon, chocolate covered strawberries, yellow & red apples, spicy beef sausage, a melange of cheese (brie, camembert, gouda) and artisan bread. Dig in ladies!

Testing out the products.

Munchies and wine make them happy!

Kim and Charlotte have the most gorgeous skin!!

Bon appétit K!

Take home goodies to thank the ladies for coming out. I got this idea for chocolate dipped pretzels from Lexy’s blog.

Outtake: If I’m not talking, I’m eating lol.

Free? I Like Free!

Hi all!

I am starting a new segment on this here little blog. I think we all tend to get bogged down by the hustle and bustle of daily life. However, I think it s extremely important to sit and appreciate the little things that life hands, places or throws our way. I am calling this segment Mai High of the Week.

Mai High of the Week was getting free passes to a comedy show. I love comedy, theater and anything else that involves me spending my hard-earned money to have fun with friends. I received an email almost two weeks ago  from Ticketmaster offering me complimentary tickets to Gary Gulman’s show at the Wilbur Theatre. However, because I am a jaded procrastinator, I didn’t rush to the site to get the tix. I just knew there had to be a catch. Silly me. The only catch was the .75 cent handling fee for each ticket. I being the good friend that I am invited a couple of my friends to come with. But wait, it gets better. I got a call and email from Ticketmaster telling me that the show was going to be taped!!!! OMG, I’ve never been to a show taping! When we got there, we were escorted to the front, like literally I could see almost every pore and freckle on the comedian’s face. What was your high of thee week? Enjoy the pics, and thanks for stopping by!

My “I’m down” crew. They’re always down for last minute fun with me.

I’d love to find out the significance of the nickel as the backdrop to the stage.

Cheers to fun times and good friends!

Apparently this guy is famous? He hosts Property Virgins?

Now on to the outfit.

Can you feel my excitement? They made me wear my friend’s jacket because my white T would be a problem on the camera. I was stinking hot!

I’m not too crazy about my T, I would have preferred a v neck.

Big hair don’t care right?

Tassels & a gold cuff.

Loving these simple yet versatile oxfords.

Outtake: Hold on let me fix myself.

Birthday State of Mind

Hello all,

These pictures are from my birthday weekend (4/27-4/29). I spent my birthday in New York aka the city that never sleeps (literally). I went to New York to see the Lion King on Broadway. I have wanted to see the Lion King for years, but for reasons out of my control it never happened, until now. While I was in New York, a Haitian band was in town and performing at a popular restaurant/lounge SOB’s. So of course I had to go and check them out. Although I had a good time, my birthday wasn’t quite how I had envisioned it. Here’s hoping there’s a next year lol (morbid I know). Enjoy the pics!

We went to The Brooklyneer to wait for the RAM show to begin. One of my favorite things about New York is the plethora of bars and restaurants in all of the boroughs. I wasn’t too crazy about this place though. The music was deafening, you couldn’t carry a coherent conversation in there. The food was just ok for the price. I am glad that we didn’t have to spend that much time in there though.

I really want to know what is up with restaurants/bars having 5 maybe 6 items to choose from for a meal. One would think this means that the items will be especially delicious. But nope, they always seem to be average at best.Image

I ordered chicken tacos, they were just ok.

My friend who accompanied me to New York for the weekend.

A photographer at the event took my picture, and it came out very nice.

The musicians were being entertained by a rather drunk woman by the stage. Her antics were very R rated.

Notice this guy on the right hand side, he is not part of the band or the show. He jumped onto the stage and proceeded to steal the show lol. He was quite entertaining as well.

But the show must go on.

The Tribeca Fim Festival was wrapping up that weekend.  Althugh there weren’t any films that I wanted to see, I knew that there was a Family Festcial that day. I thought that there would be vendors to give my hard-earned money to, but I was disappointed to find out that it wasn’t that kind of festival :(. We stayed for a bit, and took in the sights and ambiance of the city.

What’s a trip to the Big Apple without having lunch at one of their may dinerss. We stepped out of the train station and lo and behold, there was a diner just waiting for us to feast.

This giant chessboard and pieces made me think of Alice in Wonderland

My heart almost stopped several times for them. These bikers were serious daredevils. I will post a video (apologies in advance, I do not know how to edit).

What’s a trip to New York without bumping into a goat that climbs stairs?

A group of school children were on hand to perform, I had to get out of there quick before I started to have silly thoughts of making one of my own.

Tourist pic!

Very cool, but I have no idea what it is supposed to represent.

Who do I bump into while making my way to the theater? Why Elmo of course.

I’m finally here!!

Hands down the best show that I have ever seen. I recommend it to you if you are into the arts and theater.

Rafiki was played by a woman, and she was THE star of the show!

Why is my mouth always open??

Hello (waving ecstatically),

I’m glad you’ve found your way to my side of the blogosphere. Whether you are just now stumbling across my blog, or if you’ve found your way here from my previous blog on Blogger, welcome.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful, dedicated and hardworking moms. I am often left in awe at some of the awesome moms that I have met in my lifetime. They are an inspiration to everyone that they meet.

I technically am not a fan of most holidays, but I did send flowers to my stepmom and I took my good friend out for lunch. I am her son’s godmother. She and I have been friends for quite some time and we share a very similar story, which has helped bond us over the years. My friend didn’t want to be photographed, because she didn’t know that she should look nice for our lunch date. This is the part where I roll my eyes, Hello!! How long has she known me? I wouldn’t take her to McDonald’s for lunch, and she knows that I am almost always “overdressed”. So enjoy the pictures of yours truly and our lunch picks.

I took her to Ledge, a casual dining restaurant in Dorchester. Their menu is a bit small, but I can usually find something I like.

I settled on a turkey burger

She had a strawberry puree martini, and I had the mango mint mojito.

My meal wasn’t quite to my liking, but I was hungry so of course I ate to my heart’s content.

I can’t believe people still stare when I pose for pictures in random places, lol.

I love my new wedges, this is my first pair of black wedges and these babies are snazzy.

These bangles are proving to be my new faves. I love how they look like some traditional Indian bangles.

I was not particularly sold on the mullet dress/skirt, also known as the hi low dress/skirt. That was until my eyes fell upon this little beauty. I love the vibrant blue and the pleated skirt.

My friend wanted to get some action shots of me strutting/skipping then I noticed we had an audience. I’m still not used to the audience factor of blogging.
